Superfood Chocolate Popcorn

8-10 cups popcorn (popped)


1/2 cup non-GMO popcorn kernels (organic is best if you can find it)

3 tbsp. raw organic coconut oil (I love the Trader Joe's brand)

3-4 dashes of quality sea salt

2-3 tbsp. raw cacao powder or unsweetened cocoa powder (I love the Trader Joe's brand here too!)

2 tbsp. raw organic coconut sugar (organic cane sugar works great too)


Pop the corn kernels in a pot over medium-high heat with the coconut oil. I usually melt the coconut oil with 3 kernels, and once those kernels pop I take the pot off the heat, remove the kernels and know I'm ready to put the remaining kernels in to pop. Once the kernels are in the pot, cover and let sit on med-high until all kernels are popped, usually 2-3 minutes. Once they've stopped popping, I take off the heat, let sit for a minute and then stir in the salt to taste. Once the kernels are salted, I add the coconut sugar and cacao powder until each kernel is nicely coated. Using two spoons works well to toss everything together, or just go in with your hands if you'd like!

Add more or less or salt, sugar and cocoa to meet your tastes. Eat and enjoy! 


This is hands down one of my guilt-free pleasures that I enjoy on a weekly basis. The popcorn is super high in fiber while the other ingredients are beautifying from the inside out. Coconut oil is great for skin health and has even been shown to help boost metabolism and help with digestive issues such as Candida. The coconut sugar is lower glycemic and loaded with minerals, and the cocoa is packed with magnesium to help relax your muscles and body for a great night's sleep.
