Healthy Warm & Creamy Spinach Dip (Non-Dairy, Gluten-Free, Vegan)

If you LOVE warm and creamy spinach dip but hate the high calories and unhealthy ingredients that "stick to the ribs," then this is just the recipe for you. This takes no longer than 15 minutes to make, has only healthy ingredients and will make you and your body feel and look amazing. Next time you need to impress guests with an appetizer or "dish to pass" give this healthy warm spinach dip a try!

Cooking Time

2 large handfuls of fresh spinach, roughly chopped

3/4 cup raw cashews (I prefer the lightly salted variety)

3/4 cup filtered water

1/4 cup cooked chickpeas OR white beans, drained and rinsed

1/4 cup nutritional yeast flakes

1/4 tsp. garlic powder

1/4 tsp. onion powder

2 tsp. lemon juice

1 tsp. water or olive oil to saute spinach 


Roughly chop the spinach and put to the side. 

In a high-speed blender (I love to use my Vitamix for this), pour in water, cashews, chickpeas OR white beans, nutritional yeast, garlic and onion powder and lemon juice. This will become the 'cream' sauce for the dip. 

Blend on low, moving to high speed for 1-2 minutes or until creamy and smooth. NOTE: you'll have to scrape down the edges periodically to ensure all ingredients are nicely incorporated. Place to the side. 

In a small sauce pan, heat 1 tsp. of water OR oil to medium-high heat and add spinach. Stir the spinach for 1-2 minutes before pouring the 'cream' sauce over the spinach to warm and thicken. Stir constantly for another 1-2 minutes.

Pour into a serving bowl and serve with gluten free crackers, bread or pita chips.
